Description

Surprised my friend Kate (who cosplays Korra) with my finished Asami Sato cosplay during Halloween. I still have a few tweaks to touch-up, but otherwise I'm super proud of this one.

The jacket is made from suiting material and entirely lined with red lining. There's a zipper in the front center underneath the front armor panel for ease. The shoulders are made from upholstery leather, painted on details, then covered in Mod Podge hard coat, three coats. They're then sewn into the sleeve as part of the base, then the hemming was sewn down to the leather from within the seam, making it one continued piece rather than a piece of armor over the shoulder. The elbow pads are a thin cotton, doubled up, and attached on the underside of the sleeve, then embroidered to the suiting by hand.

The front armor panel is made from upholstery leather, hemmed with pre-made hemming tape and attached by velcro on the opposite side. The clasps are made from bamboo buttons, covered in model magic, sanded, then painted gold. I also covered them in 1 coat of Mod Podge hard coat and 2 coats of Mod Podge glossy to give them that shine. They're attached to the panel via pipe cleaners which were attached through the button holes before the model magic was put on, then wrapped around strategically placed buttons on the back side of the panel.

The pants are made from a thin cotton, made to resemble Jodhpurs, or riding pants. They have two pockets in the front which are lined with red lining and are 5 inches deep (just big enough for my phone XD).

The leg armor is made from more upholstery leather. I made them the same I would any boot cover, but I used a cross stitch to keep the stitching flexible so I didn't need any zippers or buttons in the back, just a pain to slip on or off over my heel. The pink ribbon is the remaining pre-made hemming tape stuck on using glue and a few placed hand stitches to keep it looking clean.

The wig was ordered from Arda Wigs, style Matilda, color BLACK. It's a lace front wig with no preset parting. The wig was amazingly easy to style, but the fibers are very cheap feeling, and not heat resistant at all. If you're looking for a wig that will stay in a style, this works great, but otherwise, steer clear.
